In A Moment

In-a-Moment

“In a moment my life had changed forever, a crack in my very soul I knew would never mend. So cruelly robbed of what would never be. However, this thief would never take what was, I will now always find comfort in the memory of you and all that you were.”

I am so honored to be special guest for Whimsy Stamps! I absolutely adore their stamps, I have been using this Company for a long time and they are just fabulous! It did not take but a moment to know that I would use Sympathy So Deeply Sorry stamp set, created by the very talented Deb Davis. It is never easy to make sympathy cards and unfortunately we need them, but that was not my reason for selecting this set. The sentiment “May love be the thing you remember the most” is what spoke to me, you see 17 years ago my mother passed away from Breast Cancer she was 54 years old, just about a year later my father passed away he was 59 years old and it’s been hard not having them here. They were the inspiration for this card. I just want to thank Deb Davis for reminding me that love is what I remember most and that this beautiful set and it’s heartfelt sentiments bring a such a sense of comfort and ease. A sympathy set like this can be used for tributes or remembering someone special. It’s a very difficult topic to deal with, but such cards can definitely bring hope make such a sad a little easier.

Let’s Make The Card

To begin I stamped the floral images from the Sympathy stamp set using Ink on 3 Black Out Detail Ink. I Stamped the flowers around the card stock masking some of them at points where I needed to insert more flowers or leaves behind the original stamped images creating a full area of blooms. I made masks using Post it Notes. I paid special attention to the area where I knew I wanted to place the sentiment, making sure that there would be leaves, twigs and petals ever so delicately framing its boarder. Once all flowers were dry I began to color. I stared with the background I used my alcohol markers and I have stopped listing colors because I believe that not everyone has the same markers, you should use what you have and what you are comfortable using. I think if you want to follow colors just look closely and you will see what was used. For example looking at the color scheme in this card , you can see a lot of greens blues, pinks, dark reds, browns and yellows. Whatever brand of marker you use just pull these colors. Oh and don’t be afraid to use your markers interchangeably, I use three different types and it’s all good!

Just to note this card is an A2 card measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Once I had finished all the coloring I used my pencil crayons to create some shadows, in between the petals and Gel Pens, white and black to place some controlled polka dots around the card. I then heat embossed the sentiment, trimmed it and adhered it to the panel using foam tape. I added a shimmer spray (not controlled) and sparkling crystals for a little shimmer. Nuvo glue was added to the back of my panel, I adhered it to the base and I have a tribute to my parents.

  1. Dear Rebecca, this card…I just can’t even express how beautiful it is, both the card and the heartfelt meaning of it. I know you’ve been through a lot of loss, and this card is a beautiful tribute to your mom and dad. It envelopes my heart that the sentiments speak to you…as did your poem at the beginning of this post (it should be published…brought tears to my eyes). Thank you for being a wonderful guest for us, and for always being such an inspiration with your amazing cards, and moreover for being the lovely person you are. XOXO
