Winter Flowers

Happy New Year To all! I truly hope this year brings health, happiness and prosperity to everyone! I have always found myself trying, sometimes desperately, to find the positive within the negative, its never easy, especially last year! However we will look to brighter days and I believe things will eventually turn around! In the mean time, the beauty of flowers has always been a great distraction of mine. Winter flowers have a very magical aura about them, peeking their little faces out of the crisp snow and enduring frigid temperatures. Its really no wonder why I am so drawn to this beautiful Whimsy Stamps red rubber Winter Roses stamp! So before I describe how I no line watercolored these gorgeous roses I want to thank Whimsy Stamps for the amazing opportunity to join their team and work with such lovely talented souls. New Year, New begging, New adventure, and yes Frank will be making several appearances!

To begin this is an A2 sized card 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. The watercolor card is just a little smaller and trimmed using a special paper cutter that creates deco edges. I stamped the watercolor card using a no line ink, this allows the faint lines to take on the color of the watercolor. The stamp I used I used is one of my favorites from Whimsy Stamps, The red rubber Winter Roses Background Stamp. I will post another card below that I created did using this same stamp! The sentiment is from the Butterflies stamp set.

I watercolored the roses using a combination of Daniel Smith and Qor Watercolors. I almost always use pencil crayon to add depth and shadow and of course draw a few water drops. I gave these beautiful flowers my favorite peppery splatters and a little vintage distress ink gave this card the finishing touch I was looking for. As I mentioned earlier the sentiment is from the Butterflies stamp set, I stamped it using black ink on a piece of deco cut water card , which I also vintage distressed. I added sequence for sparkle and interest.

Thank you so much for stopping I truly hope you found inspiration to create a winter floral card. Watercoloring or any coloring can be so relaxing and peaceful, it is my wish that you can find sometime to do this soul soothing activity.

Rebecca

This is another card I created using the winter roses!
